Witnesses told Chicago police that gunmen ran inside a Dunning neighborhood three-flat where two young men were found shot to death Thursday and then ran away from the block that sits at the foot of the Irving Park Cemetery.

Jefferson Park (16th) District police found the two men, ages 20 and 18, unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds each in the rear of a residence in the 7800 block of West Cahill Terrace in the Dunning neighborhood around 3:30 p.m., according to Chicago police and a report obtained by the Tribune.

The 20-year-old was shot in his chest, head, back and right shoulder and transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was later pronounced dead. The 18-year-old was shot in his back, neck and left leg and also transported to Lutheran, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the police report, witnesses said at least two shooters had run inside a home located at 7873 W. Cahill Terrace and then back out through the front door, running westbound on Cahill and then turning north onto Pacific Avenue.

Police recovered a handgun, a fake handgun and six shell casings at the shooting scene, the report stated, as well as a grocery bag of e-cigarettes.

Neither man’s identity was publicly released as of Friday afternoon, though autopsies confirmed that both victims died of multiple gunshot wounds in deaths ruled as homicides, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Neither victim lived in the house where the shooting occurred, the police report stated.

Grand Central Area detectives are investigating the shooting. Police said Friday afternoon that no one was in custody.
