CRUISE NIGHT AT PANTON MILLS PARK

South Elgin’s first cruise night of the summer will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, in Panton Mill Park, 10 N. Water St.

Vehicles being shown do not have to register, and there’s no admission to view the vintage, historic or restored cars on display. A food truck will be on site.

Other cruise nights are scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, July 21 and Aug. 18, according to the South Elgin website.

SANTANA TRIBUTE BAND KICKS OFF SERIES

Hanover Township’s free summer concert series gets underway at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 11, with a performance by Fuze Band, a Santana tribute act, at the Izaak Walton Reserve outdoor amphitheater, 899 Jay St., Elgin.

The Thursday evening series continues July 16 with the ’50s and ’60s nostalgia band Rosie & The Rivets and on Aug. 13 with classic rock and blues band Big Brother’s Vinyl.

Da Pizza Company food truck will be on site and other snacks and drinks available for purchase. Free off-street parking can be accessed at Huff Elementary School, 801 Hastings St.

BOOK FAIR AT EAST DUNDEE DEPOT SATURDAY

A book fair featuring local authors will be held from noon to 3 p.m. outside The Depot, 319 N. River St., East Dundee.

The fair is hosted by local writer Kim Oclon and the East Dundee Arts Council, according to a social media post.

In addition to Oclon, authors scheduled to attend are Joanie Baker-Goldberg, Steve Frederic, Chris Gerrib, Kate Gingold, Nicole M. Hewitt, Jyn Majewski, Candace Marquez Green, Sara McAllister, Eveline Rose, Tatiana Salisbury, Eden Sandoval, Sara Shacter, Steven Silver, Patricia Toht and Jenny Wagh.

The authors will be selling their books written in genres that include children’s literature, fantasy, history, poetry, romance, science fiction and history.

KANE HOLDING MENTAL HEALTH WEBINARS

The Kane County Health Department will present free webinars on young children’s mental health and emotional well-being from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, and Thursday, June 25.

“Supporting Your Child Starts with Supporting Yourself” on June 17 will be presented by infant and early childhood mental health consultant Tammy Livingston, according to a news release. She will talk about the connection between caregivers’ mental health and their children’s well-being and will offer tips for preventing parental burnout.

The “What If You Don’t Come Back? How Separation Fears, Grief, and Trauma Impact Behavior and Development in Young Children” presentation on June 25 led by child development specialist Tracy Patton will cover how separation fears, grief and trauma can impact children.

INFLATABLE FUN FEST AT RAKOW LIBRARY

The Summer Discover Inflatable Fun Fest will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at the Rakow Branch of the Gail Borden Public Library, 2751 W. Bowes Road, Elgin.

Geared toward children in grades 1 through 8, the event will include yard games and a 71-foot climbing inflatable, a social media post said.
