DRIVE-THRU TRUCK TRAFFIC BANNED ON EAST DUNDEE STREETS

The East Dundee Village Board has approved an ordinance that prohibits trucks exceeding 16,000 pounds or 30 feet in length from traveling the town’s streets, except when making deliveries in East Dundee.

All designated truck routes have been consolidated to three state highways — Route 25, Route 72 and Route 68 — and along a route for trucks traveling to and from downtown establishments, according to Depot Life, the village’s e-newsletter.

The ordinance was designed to “protect neighborhood safety, reduce wear on local streets and improve overall quality of life for village residents,” according to the newsletter.
