
ANNUAL ST. SOPHIA GREEK FEST SET FOR JUNE 5-7
St. Sophia Greek Fest will be held from noon to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 5-6, and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 7, on the grounds of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 525 Church Road, Elgin.
The free festival will feature homemade Greek food and pastries, live music, traditional Greek dancing, an indoor marketplace, a raffle and tours of the church building, according to the event website.

EAST DUNDEE FIREFIGHTERS HOSTING MEAT RAFFLE
The East Dundee Firefighters Association will hold a meat raffle starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Black & Gray Brewing, 311 Barrington Ave., East Dundee.
In addition to the raffle, Duke’s Blues-N-BBQ will be onsite selling food from 5 to 8 p.m., an association social media post said. The nonprofit hosts various events throughout the year to raise money for local nonprofit organizations and to buy Christmas presents for families in need, according to its website.

WEEKLY WILD MARKET AT THE ZOO STARTS JUNE 7
Randall Oaks Zoo in West Dundee will hold its weekly Wild Market at the Zoo from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday from June 7 to Aug. 9.
Vendors will sell their goods at outdoor booths set up throughout the venue, according to the Dundee Township Park District website.
“It’s a fun, family‑friendly shopping experience you won’t find anywhere else,” the website states.
Regular zoo admission rates apply to attend the market. Vendor spaces are $10. The zoo is located at 1180 N. Randall Road.

SENIOR STROLL AT SOUTH ELGIN FOREST PRESERVE
The Forest Preserve District of Kane County will hold a Senior Stroll from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 4, at the Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve, 35W003 Route 31, South Elgin.
Geared toward people ages 50 and older, the walk will be led by a guide who will point out natural attractions and provide history of the propertyaccording to the forest preserve district website.

SHREDDING EVENT, FOOD DRIVE AT CITY HALL
State Sen. Cristina Castro, D-Elgin, is sponsoring a free document shredding event and food drive from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 7, in the Elgin City Hall parking lot, 150 Dexter Court, Elgin.
Only paper items will be accepted for shredding, according to a news release from Castro’s office. Paper clips and staples do not need to be removed.
Food collected will be given to the Community Crisis Center’s emergency food pantry. Suggested donations include canned goods, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti sauce, pasta and beans.
