Man fatally struck by vehicle that fled scene in Chicago Lawn

A 53-year-old man was fatally struck Tuesday night by a SUV that fled the scene in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 11:15 p.m., the man was standing on the street near the sidewalk in the 6800 block of South Pulaski Road when an orange Honda SUV struck him and fled, police said. The SUV fled north on Pulaski.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead.

As of Wednesday morning, the man had yet to be identified.

The Major Accidents Investigation Unit was investigating, police said.
