NO ID YET ON RACEWAY WOODS HUMAN REMAINS

Work continues to identify the human bones found Sunday, April 26, at Raceway Woods Forest Preserve in Carpentersville.

“We have a forensic anthropologist examining the remains,” Kane County coroner’s office cold case investigator Maureen Kelly said. “It will likely take weeks to months before she is able to provide details.”

Paul Burger, public safety director for the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, said he has been told by the coroner’s office that the bones most likely are from a man age 50 or older.

District police opened a death investigation after a Carpentersville resident April 26 reported finding a skull, in a remote, wooded area of the Raceway Woods, according to a news release. More bones were later located in the area.

Anyone who might have information related to the case is asked to call Burger at 630-232-3415.

EAST DUNDEE UNVEILING DOWNTOWN AED STATION

The village of East Dundee and the East Dundee and Countryside fire protection districts will hold a ribbon-cutting and dedication for the new SaveStation at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, outside The Depot, 319 N. River St.

The station houses a publicly accessible automated external defibrillator, which can be accessed at any to provide a rapid response during a cardiac emergency, according to a news release. It’s located on the exterior of The Depot

The device will be housed in a weather-resistant, climate-controlled cabinet. When opened, the alarmed and monitored unit will alert others that help is needed and offers clear, step-by-step instructions.

Designed for use by bystanders, the AED analyzes heart rhythm and delivers a shock if needed to restore a normal beat. The model includes pediatric rescue mode and real-time CPR feedback to support high-quality compressions.

The AED was donated by the nonprofit Andrew’s Assist. Installation was provided by Lauderdale Electric.
