The Evanston Police Department is investigating reports of gunshots fired near Dodge Avenue and Lyons Street in Evanston on April 26, according to Evanston Police Commander Chelsea Brown.
This marks the third report of shots fired in a little over a week, continuing a recent string of gun-related incidents in the city.
According to Brown, officers heard the sound of gunshots while on patrol near Dodge Avenue and Lyons Street around 9:45 p.m. on Sunday.
Additional officers responded to the shots fired after dispatch received several calls reporting potential gunfire near Payne Street, Dewey Avenue and the nearby surrounding area, according to the police report.
Officers later located shell casings behind 2120 Dewey Avenue and 2123 Darrow Avenue, Brown told the Pioneer Press over email.
Window damage also occurred in the 2100 block of Dewey Avenue, she said.
Detectives returned to the area on Monday to “execute a search warrant regarding the investigation,” Brown said.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident, according to Brown, and no suspects are currently in custody.
The case remains under active investigation.
This comes just days after a man suffered a non-life-threatening gun shot wound
