DISNEY MUSICAL BEING STAGED AT HEMMENS

Children’s Theatre of Elgin/Fox Valley Theatre Company will present Disney’s “Descendants: The Musical” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 17-18, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at The Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way, Elgin.

The musical begins on the Isle of the Lost, home to the teen children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella De Ville, according to online information. When the four are sent to attend prep school alongside the children of beloved Disney heroes, they have a difficult choice to make: Should they follow in their parents’ wicked footsteps or learn to be good?

Tickets are $14 for students, children and seniors and $16 for adults. A sensory friendly performance will be presented for free at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18.

‘FADE’ TO BE PRESENTED AT ELGIN ARTS SHOWCASE

Elgin Theatre Company will present Tanya Saracho’s drama “Fade” on three weekends in April and May at the Elgin Art Showcase, 20 DuPage St., Elgin.

The drama tells the story of Mexican-born Lucia, a novelist who has just arrived in the United States to do television writing, and U.S.-born Abel, who is also Mexican and works as a custodian, according to the company’s website

It will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays between April 17 and May 3. General admission tickets cost $25 for adults and $23 for seniors 62 and older, students and veterans.

‘WHICH MUSEUM IS WHICH?’ PROGRAM FOR SENIORS

Elgin Public Museum Director Sharry Blazier and Elgin History Museum Director Liz Marston will present a “Which Museum is Which?” program at which they will discuss the similarities and differences between their two institutions.

The free presentation designed for senior citizens will be held from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Friday, April 17, at the Elgin Public Museum in Lords Park, 100 Oakwood Blvd.

It will include a slideshow followed by a guessing game in which audience members can participate, according to a social media post. Seating is limited.

KANE COUNTY ANTI-TRAFFICKING SUMMIT PLANNED

The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office will hold an anti-trafficking summit from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Christ Community Church, 820 S. Randall Road., South Elgin.

The free event will focus on raising awareness, educating communities and preventing human trafficking, according to a social media post.

It will include breakout sessions, insights from experts and a discussion of collaborative strategies. Coffee and light snacks will be available.
