Chicago police are investigating a camera found inside the bathroom of a Logan Square thrift store last weekend.
On Sunday, a 33-year-old woman was at Village Discount Outlet in the 2000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue when she found what appeared to be a camera inside the store’s bathroom, according to Chicago police. The item was recovered, police said.
The Logan Square store is one of 10 Village Discount Outlet locations across the Chicago area, according to the retailer’s website. The store sells secondhand clothing, housewares and accessories.
Village Discount Thrift, in a statement posted to social media Friday, said it was “fully cooperating with local law enforcement and conducting our own review.”
“We’re aware of a recent concern reported at one of our stores,” the statement read. “We take the safety and privacy of our customers and team very seriously.”

No confirmed findings had been shared with the store as of Friday, Village Discount stated.
“We appreciate your patience as the proper authorities complete their investigation,” the store said.
The retailer did not immediately return a request for comment.
No one was in custody late Friday afternoon as Grand Central Area detectives investigated, police said.
Previous allegations of hidden cameras have circulated across Chicago-area businesses in recent months.
In February, a Kane County grand jury indicted a Batavia chiropractor accused of secretly recording videos of child and adult patients while they were undressed or unclothed. Initial investigation indicated that the chiropractor made the recordings using hidden cameras placed throughout his chiropractic office.
Meanwhile, last fall, 11 former female employees of an Addison ice cream store filed a suit against its owner over allegations that he secretly recorded them in the store’s bathroom.
