A Batavia chiropractor has been charged with numerous child pornography-related felony counts after allegedly secretly recording nude videos of child and adult patients, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office and Batavia Police Department said in a news release on Thursday.
According to a joint investigation by the Batavia Police Department and the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office’s Child Exploitation Unit, David Hanson, 43, owner of Hanson Family Chiropractic, secretly recorded more than 180 patients while they were undressed or unclothed, the news release said. The victims’ ages ranged from young children to adults, and were mostly female.
Many of the recordings appear to have been taken from a red light room used for red light and near-infrared light therapy, the release noted. The investigation indicated that Hanson made the recordings using hidden cameras placed throughout the chiropractic office.
Hanson was also found to be possessing and disseminating videos containing child sexual abuse material unrelated to his chiropractic practice, the release said.
His home and office at 1928 West Wilson Street in Batavia were searched on Nov. 5, the release said, and he was arrested that night.
He has since been charged with five felony counts for producing child pornography, three felony counts for disseminating child pornography, six felony counts for possessing child pornography and three felony counts for the unauthorized video recording of a minor through or under the clothes, per the release.
Hanson had no attorney listed on the 16th Judicial Circuit’s website as of Thursday afternoon to be reached for comment. Hanson’s office did not immediately return a phone call and voice mail message asking for comment.

He is being detained while his case is pending, and his next court date is set for Nov. 10, Kane County court records show.
Investigators are also looking to identify victims of Hanson, and the news release indicated that anyone with information or who believes they or a minor dependent were a victim of Hanson should call (630) 444-3322 or email [email protected].
The investigation has been handed off to the State’s Attorney’s Office, the news release said. Investigators were assisted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, whose electronic storage detection canine assisted in locating hidden cameras in the business.
