Carpentersville officials signed off on a $1.6 million contract with a Huntley company for a reconstruction project on Carpenter Boulevard, from Maple Avenue to Spring Street.

Schroeder Asphalt Services, Inc., which had the lowest bid for the project, is expected to start construction this spring.

HR Green, Inc., did the engineering on the project and will oversee and monitor the construction progress. The village also approved a $208,000 contract with HR Green at Tuesday’s board meeting.

Crews will put in new curbs and gutters, sidewalks, and an improved and upsized storm sewer system, according to village documents.

On-street parking on the east side of the street is being added, said Kevin Gray, director of public works and engineering. A dedicated pedestrian crossing to Carpenter Park is part of the project, he said.

The additional parking will help with special events at the park, Village Manager Brad Stewart said.

Carpenter Boulevard is a truck route, Gray said. “It’s in very poor shape,” he said.

Officials didn’t indicate what detours will be available for truck traffic.

Gray said the village is hoping crews will be on site within the next few weeks. The project should be completed by June.

“It’s going to be really nice,” Village President John Skillman said. “It’s been a longtime coming. Hopefully, the weather is decent so they can move forward quickly,” he said.

Meanwhile, L.W. Besinger Drive, between Ball Avenue and Illinois 25, is being completely reconstructed. The roadway is being reconstructed, including resurfacing, curb and gutter replacement, and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant upgrades. The intersection of Besinger Drive and Route 25 is being widened, and dedicated turn lanes are being added.

The roadway is being resurfaced from Ball Avenue to Lake Marion Road.

Construction is affecting Pace bus routes 543 and 803. Crews are prepping the area, and detour signs have been placed.

The 2026 Roadway Resurfacing Program has 15 streets scheduled to be repaired. This year, the village has $2.5 million, in state Motor Fuel Tax funds and local funds for the project. The list of streets includes:

• Robin Road
• Wren Road (north and south of Hazard Road)
• Thrush Street
• Cardinal Lane
• Caddy Avenue (north of Ball Avenue)
• Green Lane
• Hook Road
• Queens Court
• Sparrow Road (south of Hazard Road)
