Charges were pending against a 57-year-old driver who struck a pedestrian Thursday night in the Austin neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 9 p.m., a tan sedan attempted to turn around in the 5100 block of West Lake Street when the driver struck a 44-year-old woman who was walking on the sidewalk. The woman fell to the ground and suffered injuries to the head and leg, police said.
The woman was taken to an area hospital where she was listed in good condition. The driver was arrested and charges were pending.
