Three people were shot early Sunday in Crete Township after a large fight broke out at a family party, according to the Will County sheriff’s office.

Responding deputies arrived at the scene and began life-saving measures on the victims before all three were taken to area hospitals.

One victim later died at the hospital in Olympia Fields. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the person killed.

It remains unclear whether anyone is in custody or being questioned.

Early investigations show the incident appears to be isolated and domestic-related and officials say there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The shooting comes as the small Crete community continues to recover after a 71-year-old man and his three grandchildren died in a house fire Wednesday morning, and from a triple homicide last Monday that left a 32-year-old man, his mother and stepfather dead.

Jenna Strouble, 30, of St. John, Indiana, was arrested and charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder in that shooting. Authorities say she reportedly had an on- and off-again relationship with the victim.

Strouble is to appear Monday morning in Will County court.

It also comes nearly seven months after two people were shot on Exchange Avenue in Crete Township Sept. 2, 2025. No arrests have been made in that case.
