Two men were killed and a third man was injured Tuesday afternoon when a shooting outside of a Near West Side fast-food restaurant led to a vehicle fire, according to Chicago police.
The daylight shooting, which was captured on video, occurred in a parking lot in the 2300 block of West Roosevelt Road, a short distance from UIC College Prep and the Illinois Medical District, around 1:20 p.m., police said.
The victims, ages 35, 44 and 48, were inside two vehicles parked in the lot outside of a White Castle restaurant when a dark colored SUV pulled into the lot, according to a police report. A trio of gunmen got out of the SUV and opened fire before fleeing the scene, police said.

After first responders arrived at the scene, the 35-year-old victim, who appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The 48-year-old, who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The 44-year-old, who was wounded in the back, was taken to Stroger Hospital by a good Samaritan and listed in good condition, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the deaths, but the men’s identities weren’t immediately released. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
Outside the White Castle restaurant on Roosevelt Road, dozens of evidence markers surrounded what appeared to be a Lincoln SUV with broken windows, burn marks and the hood ajar. Police recovered 36 bullet casings at the scene.
Police closed off traffic on Roosevelt as officers processed the crime scene. No arrests had been made.
