A spokesperson for Orland High School District 230 board announced this week that Nadine Scodro resigned from the board Sept. 22 due to personal reasons.
District spokesperson Jennifer Waterman said the school board has 60 days to find her replacement. The process for applications has yet to be determined.
The selected new board member will serve until the next election in April 2029, Waterman said.
Scodro, a graduate of Carl Sandburg High School, was board secretary and co-chair of the Education Committee. She also was last year’s co-chair of the Student Support and Development Committee
She was appointed to the board in January 2024 to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Melissa Gracias in November 2023. Scodro was elected to a full term in April.

“It has been an honor to serve alongside the board and contribute to the work of the district,” Scodro said in a district news release.
Board President Lynn Zeder and Superintendent Robert Nolting both thanked Scodro for her time in a news release.
“Ms. Scodro has spent her entire adult life advocating for students,” Zeder said. “I am grateful she was a part of our team and that we had opportunities to learn from her knowledge.”
Nolting said Scodro provided “exceptional” service in putting students first.
“She brought a unique voice to the district based on a passion for students, particularly those who require additional supports,” Nolting said.
District 230 is made up of Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park, Victor J. Andrew High School in Tinley Park and Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in Palos Hills.
