A body believed to be that of a missing Naperville woman

was found in the Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve Thursday afternoon, according to a joint news release from Naperville police and the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.

Olasinmibo “Sinmi” Abosede, 46, was last seen about 9:20 a.m. July 30, walking away from her home in the 2100 block of Sudbury Street in Naperville. Authorities had been searching for her since, with previous efforts including a large-scale search at the Springbrook prairie conducted Aug. 4.

About 1:55 p.m., Naperville police officers responded to the trailhead at the southwest corner of the forest preserve, near 83rd Street and Chandelle Drive, for a report of a dead body discovered in the prairie, authorities said.

Upon arrival, officers were led through a dense area of high grass to the body, whose clothing matched that of what Abosede was last wearing.

Authorities maintain that no foul play is suspected, according to the release.

“While we believe the individual to be Sinmi, the final confirmation will be made by the DuPage County coroner’s office,” Naperville police Chief Jason Arres said in the release. “We are deeply saddened by this loss and extend our sincere condolences to the Abosede family during this difficult time.”

Abosede was last seen wearing a long-sleeve black Adidas jacket with white stripes along the arms, gray sweatpants, a black headscarf and black crocs, Naperville police previously said.

The forest preserve district police are leading the death investigation in collaboration with Naperville police.
