A large-scale search Monday of the Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve for a Naperville woman missing since last week turned up empty-handed, according to the Naperville Police Department.
The canvass of the area, conducted with the assistance of the Naperville Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), included more than 40 trained volunteers, eight K9 teams and multiple experienced police drone operators in an attempt to locate 46-year-old Olasinmibo “Sinmi” Abosede, the release said.
Abosede was last seen about 9:20 a.m. July 30 walking away from her home in the 2100 block of Sudbury Street, police said.
The search of the preserve on 83rd Street began about 9 a.m., according to a social media announcement from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.
Naperville police Cmdr. Rick Krakow declined to comment on next steps the department will take in the search for Abosede.
Naperville police said Abosede is 5-foot-6 and weighs 190 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.
Foul play is not suspected in her disappearance, police said.
Naperville’s St. Raphael Catholic Church announced it will hold a rosary prayer service at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday for Abosede’s safe return.
Camera footage shows Abosede walking away wearing a long-sleeved black Adidas jacket, gray sweatpants, a black head scarf and black Crocs sandals. She was carrying a white water bottle and apparently left her cell phone, credit cards and other personal items behind, Monday’s release said.
Naperville police said detectives have been following leads, searching the area and investigating Abosede’s whereabouts since her family reported her missing Wednesday.

“I understand that the uncertainty surrounding Sinmi’s disappearance is concerning, and I assure you that this department is doing everything we can to find Sinmi,” Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres said in a news release.
“We will continue to follow up on any leads and lean on the expertise of our partners at NEMA and surrounding law enforcement agencies, who I want to thank for their dedicated efforts today.”
Arres also said that community members who want to help in the search should continue to circulate Abosede’s photo and keep an eye out for her when traveling throughout the area.
“The more eyes we have looking out for her, the better,” Arres said.
