Elgin’s dinosaur-themed End of Summer Bash at Festival Park will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, followed by a drone show.

Kane seeking smart sprinkler pilot program participants

Kane County is seeking residents to participate in its recently-launched pilot program to conserve water, reduce utility bills and protect the county’s long-term groundwater supply.

As part of this initiative, the county is looking for high water users who will be provided with smart irrigation systems at no cost in exchange for participation in a study, according to a county newsletter. The goal is to evaluate how smart irrigation technologies can help reduce water consumption.

“This is a chance for residents to take meaningful action toward sustainability while also saving money,” Sarra Hinshaw, Kane County Sustainability Manager, said in the newsletter. “We’re especially looking for participants with monthly water bills over $400 who are willing to share their usage data.”

Residents interested in participating should call Hinshaw at 630-208-8665 or email [email protected]. For more information, go to www.kanecountyil.gov/FDER/Pages/environmentalResources/energy.aspx.
