National Night Out events being planned for neighborhoods
Neighborhood events will be held throughout Naperville as part of National Night Out, which this year will be held Tuesday, Aug. 5.
Part of a nationwide event also called “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” gatherings are designed to heighten drug prevention and crime awareness and strengthen neighbor and police community partnerships, a news release said.
Various neighborhoods are organizing cookouts, block parties and neighborhood walks, which will be visited by staff from various city departments between 5 and 8 p.m.
Because not every neighborhood hosts a Night Out event, the city and the YMCA will hold a community gathering on Monday, Aug. 4.
The Community Kick-Off and Movie Night is set for 6:30 p.m. outside the Fry Family YMCA, 2120 95th St. A bounce house, games, police equipment viewing and an outdoor movie at dusk are among the activities planned.
