A mix of wet snow and rain settled over Chicago Friday afternoon, with the sloppy weather expected to affect the evening commute, officials said.

Snow totals are expected to be less than a quarter inch but could be 1 to 2 inches between I-90 and I-80.

Current conditions at O’Hare International Airport were light rain/snow at 36 degrees, and similar conditions were reported for Midway Airport. Temperatures were expected to peak around that level before slipping into the high 20s in the night hours.

Chicagoans should prepare for a roller coaster of temperatures this weekend that could bring highs in the 50s, weather officials said. Saturday highs are expected in the low 40s with clear conditions.

Temperatures could reach into the 60s by Tuesday.
