15-year-old boy fatally wounded Tuesday morning in Englewood identified

A 15-year-old boy was fatally wounded late Tuesday morning on the South Side in the Englewood neighborhood has been identified, officials said.

The young teen wass identified as Kenwon Vanpelt of the 6700 block of South Parnell Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m., Kenwon was found unresponsive and shot in the head inside a residence in the 6700 block of South Parnell Avenue, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
