Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard won the NHL’s rookie of the month award for November.
He posted six goals and six assists in 12 games, registering at least a point in eight of them.
Bedard was picked over other contenders, such as Calgary Flames center Connor Zary (3 goals and 7 assists in 13 games) and Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Samuel Ersson (1.70 goals-against average, .926 save percentage and a shutout against the New York Islanders).
Bedard went scorched-earth during the team’s Florida trip from Nov. 9-12, recording two goals and two assists against the Tampa Bay Lightning and another two markers versus the Florida Panthers.
“He just doesn’t seem satisfied just getting his one goal every night, he’s looking for more,” coach Luke Richardson said after the Panthers game.”

He added, “He’s just got some special qualities.”
Bedard’s road point streak reached seven games during the 5-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, tying Sidney Crosby (2005-06), Steve Yzerman (1983-84) and Sylvain Turgeon (1983-84), and matching the Hawks franchise record set by Darryl Sutter from Dec. 11, 1980-Jan. 17, 1981, according to NHL Stats.
Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon was the only player in NHL history age 18 or younger who had a longer run: 16 games during the Avalanche’s 2013-14 season.
Bedard, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NHL draft, leads all rookies in goals (10), points (18) and shots per game (3.10).
Dominik Kubalik was the last Hawks player to win rookie of the month honors in January 2020.
