A bicyclist was injured Wednesday night after being struck by a pickup truck whose driver then left the scene, West Dundee police said.

The crash occurred about 8:15 p.m. on Huntley Road near the entrance to Raceway Woods, a news release from West Dundee Police Chief Anthony Gorski said.

The victim, a 40-year-old West Dundee man, told police he was riding his electric bicycle southbound across Huntley Road at one of the marked Raceway Woods crossroads when he was struck, the release said. The pickup was possibly a green- or blue-colored Ford and may have had a Mexican flag sticker affixed to the rear cab window, the victim told police.

The cyclist injuries were superficial and he was treated and released from Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

Police asked that anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the cyclist Wednesday contact detective Mike Slager at 847-551-3810.
