The village of Barrington has welcomed a new firefighter/paramedic to the community, with Daniel Honea sworn in during the board’s July 17 meeting.
He comes to the village with 11 years of experience, most recently working for 4 1/2 year in the Westchester Fire Department.
“In a short time, Dan has shown commitment and passion to being the best firefighter/paramedic he can be and I believe he will be an asset to the fire department for years to come,” fire Chief John Christian told the board.
Honea was joined at the meeting by his family, and his wife, Megan, pinned his badge on after he was sworn in.
Also at the meeting, Village President Karen Darch gave an update on pending legislation, including an amendment to the Open Meetings Act that would allow for remote meetings by municipalities in certain circumstances, such as snow and ice storms. The bill has not yet passed.
