Naperville’s victory in assault gun sales ban lauded

Kudos to the city of Naperville for their recent success in permanently banning the sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. Not only did they prevail in the highest courts of Illinois in stopping an injunction from being approved but the ultra-conservative U.S. Supreme Court as well.

A permanent ban on these senseless instruments of death is the very least that our communities can do to remember those who’ve been victimized in the past and to prevent even more tragic events in the future.

Let local areas decide on need for EV charging stations

I find it extremely disconcerting that a bill requiring new home builders in Illinois be required to provide infrastructure for electric vehicle charging stations is headed to the governor’s desk.

This is a type of transportation that very few have chosen. If a specific area has the need, then that specific area should provide for it. When the majority have the need, wouldn’t private business fill it without a law to mandate it? Is there a law mandating gas stations be located within a certain distance of residences?

I deeply resent being forced to accept and pay for something the majority of people don’t want, especially when those forcing it haven’t all made the choice that requires it. Lead by example! If you don’t need it, why force me?
