Damage to a Naperville house was estimated at $250,000 after a fire Wednesday burned through the second floor and roof, officials said.

Naperville firefighters were alerted to the blaze about 8:10 a.m. by a contractor who saw black smoke coming from a single-family home in the 800 block of Cardiff Road, a news release said. The location is near 75th Street and Plainfield-Naperville Road.

Two dozen fire personnel and 10 pieces of equipment were needed to knock down the flames, which took about 15 minutes to get under control and another 90 minutes to ensure it was completely extinguished, the release said.

No one was injured, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The house was deemed uninhabitable by the Naperville Transportation, Engineering and Development team.
