A Naperville man was beaten in his house and a gun shot fired Sunday in an attack stemming from a prior dispute, Naperville police said.
Officers were called to the 1500 block of West Jefferson Avenue about 12:45 a.m. on a report of a fight in progress and shots fired, a news release said.
They arrived to find the victim beaten and his attackers gone. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, the release said.
It was determined the man had been targeted because of his involvement in an earlier altercation. He was confronted by a group of people when arrived home, the release said.
No information was released on the nature of the dispute. Police don’t know why the shot was fired but no one was injured as a result of it, the release said.
This incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Naperville Police Department through Crime Stoppers, 630-420-6006.
