Buffalo Grove police are investigating after a woman had to be extricated when the vehicle she was in struck a light pole and trapped her inside.

According to a village news release, emergency responders, including firefighters, were called to an area near Lake Cook Road and Raupp Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. Saturday on a report of a single vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, the emergency responders found that a 2012 Kia Rio had crashed into a large street light pole, and the driver was stuck inside the car, the release states. Firefighters worked to extricate the woman who was in the vehicle, finally getting her out after about 10 minutes.

The release states that the unidentified woman was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with non-life-threatening injuries.

The car had been going eastbound on Lake Cook Road when it left the roadway and struck the pole east of Raupp Boulevard, according to the release. The incident led to eastbound Lake Cook Road being closed for approximately three hours.

Authorities said in the release that the cause of the crash is under investigation by police. It was not immediately clear Monday whether any citations were issued — or are pending — in the incident.
