2023 Met Gala red carpet roundup: Who was there, who did they wear?

The 2023 Met Gala is underway in Manhattan.

The gowns are flowing. The cameras are clicking. And the press is shouting from behind the fence at the Mark, the 5-star hotel where celebrities prep and strut before heading to the Metropolitan Museum of Art blocks away.

Here’s a look at what’s happening at fashion’s biggest night.

The theme for this year’s event is “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” honoring the work of Lagerfeld, an iconic German fashion designer who died in 2019.

Gisele Bündchen, fresh off her divorce from football star Tom Brady, dazzled in an angelic Chanel dress with a feathery cape.

Kim Kardashian and other celebrities published social media posts as they geared up for the gala.

Karlie Kloss revealed she is pregnant, writing on Twitter, “baby’s first Met,” as she showed off a baby bump. The 30-year-old model welcomed her first child in 2021.

Serena Williams is pregnant with a second child too, the tennis star said. “This is the first time I’m actually on a red carpet pregnant,” Williams, 41, told Vogue.

New York City’s mayor, Eric Adams, is a no-show, choosing to head to the Hotel Association of New York City Foundation’s Red Carpet Hospitality Gala at the Pierre Hotel, about 20 blocks south. But City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams arrived in a luminous black sequined gown. (She is not related to the mayor.)

Ben Platt, the Tony Award winner who is currently starring in a revival of “Parade,” wore a white Wiederhoeft suit and David Yurman jewelry as he arrived at the gala.
