
Two children were injured, and one is in critical condition, after a person ignited an object and threw it into an Englewood residence on Sunday night, Chicago Police Department officials said.
The fire began around 11:30 p.m. Sunday on the 6100 block of South Carpenter Street, according to police. An adult man and four children were able to get out the building unharmed, but firefighters entered the home and rescued a 4-year-old boy who was still inside, police said.
The 4-year-old was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition for smoke inhalation.Another boy, 9, was also taken to Comer for smoke inhalation. He is in good condition, police said.
There are no other injuries. The Chicago Fire Department is investigating the incident.
