Mundelein High School’s varsity baseball team was back in action on Thursday after four games were postponed as District 120 administrators continue to review, “alleged violations of the student code of conduct,” according to an update from the district.

“Students found in violation of the athletic code of conduct were issued athletic code consequences,” according a statement released Thursday.

The alleged violations are “still under review,” the district announcement continued, and there will be no further comments, “as matters of student discipline are internal and confidential.”

On Tuesday, Principal Alexandria Rios Taylor announced the postponement of three games, one against Grayslake North and two against Waukegan, and the investigation into alleged misconduct.

Taylor’s statement said District 120, “promptly launched an investigation” and postponed the games after a report of misconduct was brought forth on April 7, calling the status of the powerhouse program’s 2023 season into question.

A game against Zion-Benton was also postponed this week, according to school officials, but it will be rescheduled along with the other postponed contests.

The Mustangs have multiple players who have accepted Division I baseball scholarships for next year, and finished as Class 4A runners up in 2016 and 2022.
