A Lyons Township woman is being held without bond and facing murder and child endangerment charges following the death last fall of her 19-month-old son, Nathan Wisdom.
Cook County sheriff’s officers responded to a call at Jamie Hannion’s home in the 800 block of Victory Lane in unincorporated Lyons Township on Oct. 18. Hannion’s sister was taking care of the boy and found him dead in his crib.
Investigators say Wisdom, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was severely malnourished. The toddler weighed 9.5 pounds at his time of death, according to a bond proffer filed Friday by county prosecutors. Cook County Judge Linzey Jones denied bond for Hannion.
Prosecutors said Hannion was her child’s sole provider, and that Hannion told Cook County deputies she was a “bad mother” and that she “lacked motivation to feed and take care of baby Nathan, and that most of the time she just doesn’t feel like moving and so she cannot get to baby Nathan.”
In the days before Wisdom was found dead, “Hannion stated that she heard him screaming on Saturday but did not check on him once throughout the entire weekend. (Hannion) stated that the screaming eventually stopped, and she just couldn’t be motivated to get up to check on baby Nathan,” according to the proffer.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office ruled the death a homicide caused by nutritional neglect. Prosecutors said Wisdom was in the hospital for at least five days in September because of his failure to thrive, child neglect, developmental delay and poor weight gain.
Police officers tried to arrest 22-year-old Hannion in February, but learned she was visiting family in Tennessee. A warrant was issued and FBI agents arrested Hannion on March 7. She returned to Cook County Thursday.
Hannion was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of felony endangering the life and health of a child resulting in death.
Her next court date is April 20.
