A shooting in the Englewood neighborhood sent at least two people to a hospital after good Samaritans inside a beauty supply store came to their aid Thursday afternoon, said a witness and officials.
A staffer who answered the phone at Garfield Beauty Supply, 1616 W. 63rd St. said two guys and a woman ran into the store saying they were shot. “They just asked for help,” said the worker, who didn’t want his name used.
Several people inside the store, which remained closed, helped put pressure on their wounds, the staffer said.
According to Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford, who earlier said a juvenile was among the victims, said a woman in her 30s and a man in his late 20s were both taken in fair condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center.
The woman was shot in the right leg and wrist while the man was shot in the back and right arm, Langford said.
At about 2 p.m. a bullet-ridden SUV that had blood inside of it and smashed-up windows remained at the entrance to a parking lot.
