
An 18-year-old Carpentersville man has been charged in connection with the Sunday shooting of a man in the 500 block of East Chicago Street, Elgin police said.

The victim, located by police about 12:25 a.m., was transported to an area hospital, according to an Elgin Police Department news release.
Armani J. Morris, of the 3000 block of Blue Ridge Drive in Carpentersville, was arrested and charged by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office with felony counts of possession of a firearm/no FOID and reckless discharge of a firearm.
Police provided no information on the age or condition of the victim or how many times he was shot, what type of weapon was involved, what might have provoked the shooting, if the suspect accidentally fired his weapon, whether the suspect and victim knew each other, if anyone else was present at the time of the shooting or if the incident was gang-related.
At the time it occurred, police called it an “isolated” incident that posed “no threat to the community.”
Morris appeared in Kane County court Tuesday, where his bail was sent at $15,000.
