The Carpentersville Village Board may be losing a trustee but it’s gaining a new village manager with the pending appointment of John O’Sullivan.

The board is scheduled to approve O’Sullivan to the role of village manager at its 6 p.m. Tuesday meeting.

O’Sullivan is the current board’s longest-serving member, having been appointed in 2017 and twice elected since then, a news releases. He’s served as chair of the board’s Audit & Finance Commission.

He has more than 25 years of management experience, most recently with Otto Engineering in Carpentersville, the release said.

O’Sullivan also has been active in the community, serving on the Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce Board and as past president of the Rotary Club of Carpentersville.

He succeeds Eric Johnson, who resigned in December to become executive director of the Fox River Water Reclamation District.

Ben Mason, the village’s community development director, had been filling the village manager post on an interim basis since Johnson’s departure.
