Enough same old, same old: So Elgin is asking for the citizens’ input as to what to add to downtown — again. To the city of Elgin, wake up! How many times have you heard? We want entertainment! More restaurants. Why doesn’t Elgin have an Irish Fest, Oktoberfest, Art Festival, big name entertainers at The Hemmens, a bigger variety of restaurants and retail. Stop with the DNA. What have they done? Not a heck of a lot. There is so much more to Elgin than the same old, same old being put down there.
Playground brats: The undisciplined, uncivil members of the so-called Freedom Caucus sent Joe Biden an early valentine Tuesday during his State of the Union address. By acting like a bunch of playground brats at recess they showed their bad behavior in front of millions of eligible voters watching their antics on TV. I can only imagine what Honest Abe would be thinking today if he could see his political party in such disarray. Instead of worrying about our nation coming apart at the seams, he might be inclined to declare war on the GOP.
Pole dancers on TV: I agree with the comment about the outfits worn by news ladies, particularly traffic and weather ladies. They have to stand to give their report and are on view from head to toe. Their tight, tight short dresses look terribly uncomfortable. There’s no way they all choose to dress like pole dancers. I’m sure their boss makes this dress code in hopes of attracting male fans.
Stronger consequences: More laws for gun ownership do not seem to be the answer to today’s problems. However, current gun laws combined with stronger consequences may act as a stronger deterrent to crime. The police can only pick up violators, take away their guns and charge the criminals. It then becomes the state’s attorney’s and the court system’s responsibility to have and enforce severe penalties for the criminal actions committed.
He’s being punished: R. Kelly is already facing 30 years in federal prison. He’s not getting off of anything. He would serve his federal sentence first. Why waste taxpayer money on (more trials). He is going away for a long time.
Will it last? Well, Tom Brady has done it again, he has retired for a second time. Does anybody want to bet how long that’s going to last? I’m thinking maybe two months and he’ll be back talking about joining another team.

State of union: At the State of the Union message, President Biden should have asked the American public if they are better off now than three years earlier. The response would be a resounding no. It is indeed worse, much worse. He definitely lied to all of us Americans during the 2020 election.
