An Elgin man driving the wrong way on Interstate 290 was killed early Sunday morning after being involved in a head-on collision in which the driver of the second vehicle also died, Illinois State Police said.

The collision occurred about 2 a.m. near Biesterfield Road in Elk Grove Village when the unidentified 22-year-old man drove his 2013 Honda Civic into a 2007 Toyota Prius being driving by a 24-year-old man from Renton, Washington, a news release said.
The Elgin man was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of the interstate when the crash occurred, state police said.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene, the release said. Their identities have not been released.
