Undeserving honor? With Kevin McCarthy’s victory last week in the vote to become speaker of the House, he now gets his portrait hung in the same hall that includes Sam Rayburn, Tip O’Neil and Nancy Pelosi. It’s like Benedict Arnold sharing space with Patrick Henry, Paul Revere and John Adams.
Assault weapons kill: As we see the public reacting to the recent gun restriction legislation, what is the common sense approach to the issue? How many times has an assault weapon saved lives compared to the many times it’s been used to kill or maim innocent people? We are all aware an assault weapon’s main purpose is to kill people, not for hunting. How is it justified as a civilian weapon and how does it make Illinois safer? When you are at the funerals, no one wants to hear the weapon was in the wrong hands!
Tail wagging the dog: Republicans have often criticized government for gridlock and general ineptitude. Now they have demonstrated they are the problem behind this inaction and ineptitude. They remind me of the guy who starts fights and then complains about violence. The real tail wagging the dog is the far right telling the majority what to do. Many even voted for a newly elected congressman to be their leader. Don’t blame government, blame those who hate government and those who voted for them.
Trump-free news: I just want to say it’s been two years, but finally there is not an article in the newspaper about Donald Trump.
Inflation still uncontrolled: What did they call it? The Inflation Reduction Act? Just to name a few things, the cost is now $6 a dozen for eggs, chicken is well over $5 a pound and Nicor is asking for another record rate hike. No matter how Washington or Springfield tries to spin it, inflation is nowhere near under control, prices are not even close to stabilizing yet alone coming down. Unless you’re making a bundle, a recession is just not on the horizon, it’s already here, with the finances and budgeting of millions on the verge of collapse.
Voters should decide: This are to the people who are calling for Rep. George Santos to resign from his New York seat. Let the voters decide in two years. They voted him in let them vote him out.
