player ready...Three Democrats and two Republicans appear to have been elected to fill five seats on the Kendall County Board in District 2 in the election on Nov. 8.
The Kendall County Board consists of 10 members, with five elected from District 1 and five from District 2 on a partisan basis, with four-year, staggered terms. However, this year all seats are on the ballot, which is required every 10 years by Illinois statute.
Incumbent Elizabeth Flowers, of Montgomery, received the most votes of the eight candidates on the ballot, with 14.42%, according to unofficial results. Flowers, a Democrat, was followed by Brooke Shanley, of Aurora, with 13.17% of the votes, and Zach Bachmann, of Montgomery, with 12.41% of the votes according to the unofficial numbers. Both Bachmann and Shanley are Democrats.
Robyn Vickers decided not to seek re-election for her seat in District 2 in the Democratic primary.
Republicans Dan Koukol, of Oswego, and Matt Kellogg, of Yorkville, also appear to have been elected in District 2. Koukol received 13.30% of the votes, while Kellogg had 12.96%, unofficial numbers show.
The other Republican candidates on the ballot were former Oswego Village Board president and Oswego Township Supervisor Brian LeClercq, Oswego Township Trustee Donna Sawicki and Gabriella Shanahan of Joliet. Sawicki received 11.43% of the votes, LeClercq got 11.30% and Shanahan had 11.02% of the votes, according to the unofficial results.
Kendall County Board Chairman Scott Gryder decided not to run for re-election in the Republican primary in District 2. Gryder, of Oswego, ran for U.S. representative in the 14th Congressional District. He was defeated by incumbent U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Naperville, in the Nov. 8 election.
