So today, it’s St. Louis where another teenager with a long gun invaded a high school and terrorized everyone, killing an adult and a student and getting killed himself. Way to go NRA. Keep selling those guns. All you right-wing militia people who love the Second Amendment. What is wrong with this country? We are the only country that has this happen because people are just crazed with the belief that we need some kind of armed militia. It’s nonsense. Grow up, give up your damn guns and realize what’s going on in this country.

Hi, this is in regards to the upcoming Veterans Day. A little recognition is deserved to all. You are honored and appreciated for all you have done. Donald Trump had bone spurs.

We are the voting majority. You say America is in debt, yet you throw money at us in the form of stimulus checks, gas cards, gas tax freezes etc. Then you think we should vote for this party or the other because they did these things. Where did you get the money from to pass out in the first place? The taxes we paid. You allow illegals to walk across our borders without following the laws and processes put in place. Do you really think they are anymore desperate for a better life than people who can’t just cross our borders?

Ted Slowik wrote about the unfair real estate tax laws. He blamed capitalist white people for taking advantage of loopholes in the law to make big profits by purchasing homes for back taxes owed. He forgot who was responsible for enacting the laws for the last 50 or 60 years.

I would like to know the difference between murdering a pregnant woman and then being prosecuted by the law for the murder of two humans, the woman and the fetus or baby while in the womb? And then it’s OK for a woman for no special reasons to abort a fetus or baby and not call this murder. I respect a woman’s right to what ever she wants to do to her body. But morally there is a fine line between murder and abortion. Rape and Incest are some exception. Have we become a nation of low morals and not respecting human life?

The 2023 Major League Baseball schedules are out. Guess who our White Sox play, on the road, for the first four games of the new season? The Houston Astros. That’s right. The White Sox will open the home season probably at 0 and 4. When they open the season on the road in Houston and Minute Maid Park, they’ll probably have to endure the raising of an American League pennant and possibly a World Series flag and a championship ring ceremony. Somebody in the MLB office really has it in for the South Siders.

George, South Side

$50 really. I would be embarrassed to sign those checks. What an insult with the rising cost of everything from A to Z, and don’t say gas has gone down because certainly hasn’t in Illinois. And don’t say get any electric vehicle, an EV is not going to stop the wind, rain, cold and snow and it certainly isn’t helping the electric grid. Wake up people. Our freedom is slowly being taken away from us, and today’s Illinois leaders are buying your votes.

I had a message in Speak Out back in March saying Gov. Pritzker could be representing all the people of Illinois, when he was only worried about getting the COVID-19 shots to Black and brown people. I said that white people would only matter to him come election time. Well, the election is here and time to vote for governor. Just remember if we have another pandemic, who, if elected, Pritzker will take care of first.

I was shocked when I read a Gov. J.B. Pritzkers new controversial sex education curriculum. Sex education will begin at kindergarten with lessons on gender identity. Third graders will learn about how they can take hormone blockers. In sixth grade, students will be instructed on anal and oral sex, condom wearing and the pregnancy option of abortion. There’s 48 schools that have opted out of his new sex education curriculum. Please don’t vote for this guy.

Chicago is a city with many people who are in the poverty level. How can the city take in refugees who have no skills and receive compensation from the city? Many of our own citizens get no help. Something is definitely wrong.

Mr. G, Chicago

Various strategies deployed to prevent the daily shootings and killings on the West and South sides of Chicago have not worked. Gang members committing most of these crimes are only dealt with when they are caught in the act of shooting and that rarely happens. It is a rare instance when the gangs themselves are mentioned in conversations about how to deal with gang violence. The emphasis is usually on curtailing the flow of guns. We have been told we can’t arrest our way out of this situation. I say let’s give it a shot. All other strategies have failed.

Assessing the Bears performance is difficult. Were they that good at New England on Monday, dominating every phase of the game, or were the Belichick coached Patriots just not very good? Looking at this week’s odds clarifies nothing. The Bears are 9.5 point underdogs against Dallas, and New England is favored against the Jets, who have a winning record.

John from Homer Glen is right on about our open space issue. I like living in a small town, still a farming community. Our Village Hall has a farm right across the street with acres of cornfields. Steve Balich wants to change all of this. Being a Will County Board member is not a lifetime job. It is time for a change.
