The program is part of the organization’s focus this year on History in the Making and will feature Tim Geiges, senior general manager of Oakbrook Center.
“Mr. Geiges will speak to the new innovative and explosive growth of the center and how it impacts Oak Brook and surrounding communities,” said Marci Spingola, director of development for the Historical Society. She said that audience participation is welcome and a question and answer segment will follow the presentation.
“The mall is the jewel in the community,” Spingola said. “The presentation will include what the mall means to people in Oak Brook and information about safety measures at the mall.”
Admission is free; donations to the Oak Brook Historical Society are welcome. Light refreshments and an open house will be offered at the Oak Brook Heritage Center, next door.

The Oak Brook Historical Society was established in 1975 to serve as a community advocate for the historic preservation of the village and to be a resource for research and preservation of Oak Brook’s history.
The organization’s current goal is to restore the Old Butler School, 1112 Oak Brook Road, which will serve the community as the Oak Brook Heritage Center, operated by the Oak Brook Historical Society. The organization said the Heritage Center will provide multigenerational programming, exhibits of the heritage and history of Oak Brook, a research library, and small group meeting space.
