Money for Antioch Library construction could be better used in schools

Well, it looks like Antioch’s leaders have misused a lot of money that they’ve gathered for some library that’s going to look like a cathedral and an unnecessary park in the middle of town. Why couldn’t they put the money toward the grade schools, maybe some air conditioning or seats that fit the needs of the children or maybe laboratories or better learning supplies? Oh well. As they say in Springfield kids cannot vote. So, who cares?

Thank you for the coverage

Hi, this is to give kudos to Gavin Good for all of his reporting on the County Board. Never have we been able to get so much information about how our representatives vote and the consequences. They’re going to face opposition on some of their voting. Thank you.

Sight of homelessness scary

I was so shocked, but not surprised, to see a person on the benches at the old theater in Libertyville — homeless under a blanket and all their possessions. It’s just really scary to think that this may be the beginning of the end. It has slowly migrated itself from California into well-to-do towns. It’s very sad. In fact, it’s very sad to see this.

Pleasant to see President Biden show empathy at disaster sites

Despite most conservatives being climate change deniers, the weather catastrophes just keep happening. How refreshing it is to see President Biden visit these localities in an entirely normal fashion, presenting empathy along with the government’s monetary support. No tone-deaf mixed messages on the first lady’s clothing, no inane lectures about raking forests, no tossing paper towels to the crowd during what should be a somber occasion, the difference in class and character between President Biden and Donald is immense.

Raid on former president’s home is historic in more than one way

Hi, according to the TV, this is the first time in history that the FBI has raided a former president’s home. It’s probably the first time in history that a president has taken something from the White House that he wasn’t entitled to.

Too many distractions in newer cars

After taking an extended road trip with a friend I was struck by the ambiguity of the newer cars. First of all there are all the safety features like beeping sounds if the car gets too close to another car, or decreasing the cruise control speed if approaching another vehicle in the same lane. If the vehicle gets too close to lane division line the steering wheel vibrates. BUT the center dashboard screen, that does map directions, has options for audio adjustments, phone options, speaker options, plus who knows what … all distractions while driving. It is crazy. Why are the safety options so important when the distractions override them?
