Pushing all of us farther away

First off, I should share I am a former Republican now an independent voter. After the hateful and violent provoking opinions of your Republican readers, I will never vote Republican again as they can’t be trusted. They are being run by religious zealots who want to remove all our rights that conflict with their puritanical religious philosophies. Know that your narratives are pushing all of us farther away, toward voting Democratic. At least Democrats are not trying to take away rights from voters and marginalized poor individuals, LGTBQ and women. Everyone needs to listen to both right- and left-leaning news sources as they all carry some truth and lies. None of my Democratic or Republican friends want censorship. All we’re asking is that news and entertainment sources not lie, or bend the news out of context, or use fear tactics for their own political gain. And no, I don’t care about gun rights because Republicans don’t care if crazy, mentally ill, gangs or your violent, provoking readers and politicians carry guns.

Lots of aid

The writer of “Other countries should chip in,” regarding support for Ukraine, can be assured that many other countries — including Great Britain, Poland, the European Union, France, Belgium, Portugal, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Croatia, Slovenia and Italy — are sending military aid. Germany discontinued a pipeline to Russia for oil, and will stop all Russian oil imports by the end of 2022. It will also reduce its natural gas imports from Russia. Beyond its military aid, Poland is accepting a flood of refugees, so far 2.4 million people, which represents more than 6% of its population. Tiny Moldova has accepted 390,000 refugees, 9.7% of its population. A comparable number for the United States would be 3 million refugees, but we’ve volunteered to take 100,000. There are countries siding with Russia — China and Hungary — but I can find no evidence that either are sending any military aid.

They are valued

To the desperately wicked out there demanding that the right to sacrifice infants across America be guaranteed: I wish we had those 60 million babes as fellow citizens. They would have grown up, gotten jobs, contributed to society, and perhaps rescued the bankrupt Social Security and Medicare programs. See, someone here valued them, even if you did not.

Dumbing down America

To the person who thinks you can get all your facts from YouTube: Good grief, you can’t possibly be serious. The internet, dumbing down America.

Voting concerns

More and more people insist we need photo voter ID cards to identify us. But, more and more people are signing up for mail-in ballots. How will this photo ID work then? The mail is all screwed up as it is, so I’m positive there will be no fraudulent ballots, not. How bout online? Even better, not.

Be careful what you wish for

All the whiny conservatives crying about free speech need a remedial civics lesson. The Constitution says the Congress cannot enact laws that prohibit freedom of speech. Twitter is a publicly traded company and can, in fact, make its own rules. When Elon Musk takes it private, you will be at his mercy and you may not like his interpretation either. Be careful what you wish for.
