Do your research
Ugh. Watch Fox News for the truth? Good grief, give me a break. Truth is they had to drop their slogan “fair and balanced” because they aren’t. They changed the slogan to “most watched and trusted” because of the sheeple following. They are a biased, right-wing, Republican network, period. Do your research on your news sources. Wikipedia everything before trying to convert people to your nonsense. You want a “non”biased news source, not a biased one like Fox.
Why all the fuss?
Why are we having to listen to all this abortion conversation? There is no need for this heinous procedure. There are birth control pills, condoms, intrauterine devices, spermicidal foam, etc. to prevent pregnancy. In addition, there is another solution for the unplanned encounter or rape, the “morning after pill.” Ultimately, there is the permanent method of birth control, tubal ligation. Why is all our political dialogue wasted on this trivial personal matter that continues to infect our society when we have serious matters to consider, like immigration, the economy and Ukraine? Now that the Democrats have failed miserably at governing our country, they are grasping at this “last straw” as a political issue.
Unrealistic solution
The push to lower the speed limit on Sheridan Road is another example of people failing to address problems and then offering unrealistic solutions. Lowering the speed limit is not going to help. Drivers don’t follow the speed limit now. Pedestrians are hit because they’re walking on the road. They’re walking on the road mainly because there are no sidewalks. People overuse Sheridan Road because we have an infrastructure of roads that was designed 50 years ago, and hasn’t been improved very much since. When solutions that will bypass Sheridan Road — like the continuation of the Amstutz Expressway past Winthrop Harbor — are offered, they’re ignored. As a consequence, the problem only mushrooms. If you want an example of what is and what should be, just drive down Green Bay Road to the Wisconsin border.
Is it because America is great?
People were illegally crossing the Mexico-U. S. border before Trump was old enough to vote, and before Trump even thought of running for office. During the time he was in office, and now with Biden in office, illegals still keep crossing the border. Is it because America is great or not great? If America, and the world, don’t care about what’s going on in Ukraine or anywhere else in the world, there would be no borders or world. There’d also be no Talk of the County, or anyone to contribute or read it.
A lot to consider
It appears it’s official, the deputy press secretary will get the job. But was the selection done because she is the number two, or was it? Is it the same situation for Supreme Court justice — that you need not apply if you’re anything but Black or gay? For me, I hope it was a selection based on her position rather than her politics or race. Think about this: What has changed for you in the last two years? Better or worse? How’s your 401(k), your educators and community? There’s a lot to consider.
Going up every year
Lake County tax bills are in the mail. Look real close at your tax bill and see how many pension we are paying for. Then remember that these people are earning a wage, and we are supporting their free retirement. Your taxes just keep going up every year.
