Voters will remember
Ann Taylor and her acolytes on the council are on a fiscally irresponsible spending spree. She is hiring 33 new employees and dipping into the city’s rainy day fund to pay for it. And adding layers of administrative staff to do the job she was elected to do. This is absolutely the worst time to go off on this kind of spending spree. Depleting funds set aside for emergency use is a bad idea given the current state of the city’s infrastructure. Taylor and her council need to lift their heads out of their tiny little world and see what is going on around them — soaring inflation, the cost of materials at an all-time high, global supply chain issues, the Fed raising interest rates, falling 401(k) balances, the economy on the verge of recession, and overseas, the war in Ukraine. So Taylor’s response is to increase city spending to further fuel inflation and deplete rainy day funds. Taylor and the council are putting Waukegan on very unstable fiscal ground with this budget and level of spending. They are playing with fire. The costs of their miscalculation will endure for years. Voters will remember.
Pack of losers
Why would you print anything from the Heritage Foundation? I don’t understand it. They’re a pack of losers and a pack of liars, so why would you even include them in the paper?
The community is to blame
Food stores are shutting down in Chicago and creating a food desert. The same thing has happened in North Chicago also. Why does this happen? Because the people steal from the stores, and the store cannot make a profit. I heard a man say if he wants something, he will just take it. So therefore it is the community that drives the stores out of business. Take a look at the attitude of the people that want everything for nothing. This is also why stores have to hire security personal, and have cameras all over the store and parking lots. Lets put the blame on the correct problem.
Appoint the most qualified
My family and I have known the Snarski family for decades. My siblings and I have attended school with Steve’s younger siblings. The Snarski family is wonderful, and everyone loves them. They have been lifelong Waukegan residents. I can’t believe that the News-Sun would write an article basically stating that Steve isn’t a good pick, just because he isn’t Latino. If he respects and supports the wishes of his district, who cares what race he is. The most qualified person should be appointed or elected. It doesn’t matter what race that person is. Appointing someone just because they are a certain race is always a bad idea. I wish Steve the best of luck.
Disgusting people
Isn’t that wonderful that someone thinks we elderly are capable of going out there and cleaning up other people’s litter on the highways. News flash, we aren’t. We’re old. It’s not our responsibility to continually pick up after disgusting people. It’s shameful the way our communities and country are treated by thoughtless lazy people. Whatever happened to being fined for littering? Bring it back.
