Reduce demand

Record high U.S. gas prices are due to a multitude of factors, including increased worldwide demand, lower OPEC output, lower USA refinery output, higher taxes and now the boycott of Russian oil, which I fully support. In 2020, when corporations where forced to allow workers to stay home from work, I paid $1.20 per gallon in Kenosha. We need to allow those who can work from home to stay home again. This will reduce demand, and bring prices down for those who must drive to or for work.

Put things into perspective

Just to put things into perspective on how the average person’s had to endure government’s mismanagement of lockdowns, restrictions, etc., think about all of the employees you’ve seen throughout all this who were at work at banks, big box stores, pharmacies, hospitals, etc., and think about day-to-day business you’ve not been able to perform with government offices such as DMV or Social Security. Think of delays in registering a vehicle, getting a new ID or driver’s license, or death benefits, unemployment, disability, etc. Not to mention waiting for a much needed refund from the IRS or state because of the backlog due to employees working from home. Those employees have not only been allowed to work from home, but received pay increases, funded by tax dollars, all while the rest of us have worked. Oh, let’s also not forget the anticipated 80,000 IRS employees to be hired to see if someone received $600 in their checking accounts, while lawmakers are making millions on insider info for stocks.

Not my problem

Why should I have anything to do with the reparations or compensation when my great-grandparents came from another country and never had a slave or anything to do with slavery?

That was then

I read a comment concerning the reparations bill that was not discussed, but supposedly is on the table. Look at American history. It’s short, as we are a country in progress. Look at what we have accomplished compared to others. If we are going to single out a group because they experienced slavery and stuff like that, well there’s a whole list. That was then, this is now. Look at the Chinese and Irish and what they experienced, The Japanese here during World War II. Lets get over it, and become a nation of Americans.

Staying away

I’m old and I have no time to dawdle in any medical field due to ongoing pandemic that has killed almost 6 million and counting in only two years. Maybe I’ll get older by not even going near any medical facility.

Boycott the USA

To everyone cutting economic ties to Russia, like the Lake County Board, McDonalds, Starbucks etc.: If you want to penalize the one causing the destruction and heartache in Ukraine, you should boycott and penalize the USA. It’s the USA and CIA under the Bush and Obama administrations that caused coups and change in Ukraine’s leadership, all to get at Russia during the post-Cold War era. Then we promised Ukraine that we’d defend them if Russia, like a threatened bear, struck back. Once again, we don’t honor our own word.
