Two men have been charged with attempted murder after they allegedly shot an Elgin man who confronted them during a house burglary.

Damarques Enochs, 25, of the 2900 block of West Flournoy Avenue, Chicago, and Taviris Paul, 29, of the 400 block of Sherman Avenue, Elgin, were also charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and armed robbery with a firearm in connection with the March 3 incident, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.

All three counts are class X felonies.

Prosecutors said the victim saw Enochs and Paul stealing items from his home in the 1200 block of Fleetwood Drive and confronted them. The two suspects reportedly shot him in the chest and fled, reports said.

Both men are being held in the Kane County jail in lieu of $750,000 bail. Their next court hearing is scheduled for March 9.
