Police continued their investigation this week into the shooting death of a man outside a home in Park Ridge, while two people known to the victim were taken into custody on warrants unrelated to the homicide, police said.
Michael Aldover, 47, was found shot multiple times next to his car, which was parked in the driveway of an apartment at 219 N. Grace Ave. in Park Ridge just after 8 p.m. on Feb. 8, police said. He was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital less than hour later, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, which ruled his death a homicide from multiple gunshot wounds.
As of Monday, no one was in custody, but investigators were pursuing several leads, said Park Ridge Police Executive Officer Tom Gadomski.
Camera footage from the area “is a huge part of the investigation,” he added.
While police initially identified Aldover as a resident of Skokie, Gadomski said Monday that at the time of his death, Aldover was staying with friends at the 219 N. Grace address, which contains a small number of rental units.

Two occupants of the apartment where Aldover was staying were arrested by police on Feb. 8 after they were discovered to have outstanding arrest warrants, Gadomski said.

Alexander Apacible, 50, had a warrant related to a Cook County identity theft case, while Layana Bulagao, 54, had a bond forfeiture warrant for a retail theft charge by Niles police, Gadomski said.
Court records show a warrant was issued for Apacible in October 2020 after he failed to appear in court on charges that he had used a credit card belonging to another person.
Prior to the Feb. 8 shooting, there had been no recent calls for police service to the 219 N. Grace address, Gadomski said.
Police have not said how many times Aldover was shot or the type of gun that was used.
The investigation is being conducted by Park Ridge police with the Major Case Assistance Team, a multi-jurisdictional police investigation unit.
“We feel very strongly that this was an isolated incident due to some of the leads we have investigated,” Gadomski said. “We can’t release much more information at this time, but we want residents to know this wasn’t a random shooting.”
The 200 block of North Grace is located north of Cedar Street and dead-ends at the Metra tracks. It consists largely of single-family homes.
The last homicide reported in Park Ridge occurred in July 2019 when a man was charged in the stabbing death of his 74-year-old mother inside their Courtland Avenue home.
