Hoping to give restaurants a business boost in a slow time of year that has been slowed further by the pandemic, Elmwood Park is sponsoring a Dine-In Elmwood Park promotion starting Feb. 18 and running for 10 days, through Feb. 27.
“We’ve worked hard to support restaurateurs and to grow our dining scene in Elmwood Park over the past few years,” Village President Angelo “Skip” Saviano said.
Most, but not all, of the featured Restaurant Week eateries are on the village’s Restaurant Row on a strip of North Avenue west of Harlem Avenue.
Restaurants which will be featuring specials include Armand’s Pizzeria, Ashley’s Café & Tap, Bon Vivant, Café Cubano, Circle Tavern, Culver’s, Donny G’s Ristorante, Eggsperience, Gringo & Blondie, Jim and Pete’s Italian, Massa Café Italiano, New Star restaurant, Senor Jefe Mexican, Spizzico Pizza and Pasta, The Great American Bagel, Tony D’s, and Union Tap.
For example, Cafe Cubano will run a $12 lunch special and $20 dinner special, with choices such as ropa vieja, roasted pork and chicken fricase along with rice, beans and plantains.
Donny G’s is offering a $10 lunch special, including ravioli, and a $20 dinner special, including choices like Chicken Vesuvio, Pork Chops Vesuvio or salmon in lemon butter sauce.
Some restaurants, like New Star, are offering a straight 10% off, while others, like Jim and Pete’s, are offering a $10 gift card with $50 purchase.
“We are always thrilled to participate in Dine-In Elmwood Park,” said Jim and Pete’s owner Michael Bucchianeri, who said the restaurant was celebrating 80 years of operation.
New Star Restaurant is another long-timer, having opened in the 1950s.
“My family has been in the restaurant business for decades, and I’ve been in business in Elmwood Park myself for years,” said Village Trustee Angelo Lollino, co-owner of Gringo and Blondie and Massa Cafe.
