COVID catch-22: Every day on the news, I see long lines for people getting tested for COVID-19, but where are the lines for people getting vaccinated? If an unvaccinated person tests negative, they probably believe the vaccine is not necessary. If they test positive, it’s too late, they already have the virus. Now the “experts” say that you need the right kind of mask for protection. The one your wearing now is no good.
No Hall of Fame for Sosa: It’s that time of year again when Hall of Fame ballots are mailed in by baseball writers all across the country. In all probability it will be Sammy Sosa’s last opportunity to join the ranks of baseball immortals. I only hope the most selfish player of his era is once again denied the companionship of Ernie, Billy and Ron.
Columnist kudo: To Donna Vickroy, thank you for your journey with your dad. I wish you were my daughter. I had no one.
Elderly need help: I’m calling about Donna Vickroy’s column about her dad and the assisted living. It brought me to tears and thank God he had her there. I was a home care nurse and saw these situations many times, and I just want to say people need to watch out for the elderly. It is a nightmare trying to figure out what to do when they start to lose control of their own lives.
Criminals amongst us: People who live in apartments, condominiums are in a high risk for burglary and assaults. You don’t know of their backgrounds. They could be felons or sex offenders. You should be supplied background checks of all in your building.
Finger pointing: The Democrats constantly blame the Republicans for everything that’s wrong with this country. The Republicans blame the Democrats for everything. The politicians blame the police for the actions of the criminals. This country has in the last 50 years gone to pot. Nobody takes responsibility for their own actions. It’s a sad case.
Resolution time: Here it is, a brand new year. Resolutions to be made. What resolution can you make and follow through with? Lose weight? Get healthy? Do a better job at work? Start a new hobby? Contribute to the Speak Out column? The possibilities are endless. It’s your choice. Good luck.
